American Racing Wheels
|
American
Racing - A Company With Roots.
In
1954, Romeo Palamides, an early
drag racing innovator, designed
and crafted leading edge, high
strength-to-weight magnesium
drag racing wheels for his
dragster. It was the early years
of hot rodding and street
enthusiast interest in the
lightweight, higher tech wheels
was overwhelming.
Romeo's vision, working from a
small machine shop in San
Francisco with his partner,
engineer Jim Ellison, evolved
into America's leading
aftermarket wheel company. In
1956, they formed American
Racing Equipment. |

American
Racing Today - Wheels That
Perform.
Over
forty years later, American
Racing and it's 1700 employees
offer a complete line of over
one hundred precision crafted
alloy wheel styles with the same
pride, innovation and enthusiasm
upon which Romeo Palamides'
original vision was
founded. From American Racing's
three state-of-the-art
manufacturing facilities AR
produced over 3.1 million wheels
in 2001, including original
equipment wheels for major auto
manufacturers.
American Racing
wheels are distributed from
company-owned,
satellite-connected warehouses,
an independent distributor
system in the U.S. and through
international distributors in
over thirty-five countries on
four continents. |

The
Vision Continues -
American Racing's legacy of
wheelcrafting continues. Each
wheel represents our heritage
and an extension of Romeo Palamides' original vision of
innovation and cutting edge.
That innovation includes the new
Teflon Coated line of
all-terrain off-road
wheels.
Following two years of
development targeted at
American Racing's Motorsports Program
authorized by an
exclusive license with
DuPont, American Racing
now offers a line of
off-road and SUV styles
permanently coated with
a baked-on, oven applied
all-terrain finish with
Teflon. These
wheels provide a durable, long
lasting finish that is very easy
to clean. The Teflon
coated styles are: the
Mojave, the
Victor, the
Diamond
Lock II, and
the new for 2005
Chamber. |

Types of wheels
1-piece wheels
- As the name implies a
one-piece wheel is made
of a single piece,
usually a cast aluminum
wheel from A-356 grade
aluminum. These
custom wheels come in a
variety of finishes.
Clear Coated and Machine
Finished Wheels - This type
of aluminum wheel has a
machined finish that has
been clear coated to
protect the aluminum and
is very easy to clean
and maintain. The
following wheels have
this finish:
Outlaw I,
Outlaw
II,
AR-23, and the
diamond cut finish with
clear coat
Diamond Back.
|
| Polished Wheels - This type of
aluminum wheel has been
fully polished for a
brilliant shine.
Polished wheels do not
have any coatings for
protection.
Regular washing and
polishing are required
to keep a polished
wheels original luster.
Wheel cleaners are not
recommended for polished
wheels, also, polished
wheels are not
recommended in severe
climates where salt may
be present on roads.
While these wheels are
harder to maintain, they
are a less expensive
option than chrome
plated aluminum wheels,
and with proper care and
maintenance will provide
years of service and
great looks. The
following wheels have
this finish:
Polished Mojave,
Polished Burst,
Polished
Ventura,
Polished Nitro,
Polished Atlas,
Polished
Python,
Polished Baja,
as well as the new for
2005 Polished Crater,
and the Rodmaster. |
| Chrome Plated Wheels
- This type of aluminum
wheel has been polished
for a smooth finish and
then chrome plated for a
brilliant, mirror-like
finish that is very easy
to clean. Regular
washing with soap,
water, and wiping clean
is all the maintenance
required for a chrome
plated aluminum wheel.
Since they are aluminum
they do not rust, and
properly cared for can
even be used in severe
climate areas. The
following wheels have
this finish:
Maxim,
Prism,
Chrome Torq
Thrust ST,
Matrix,
Chrome Mojave, Vanguard,
Burst, Magnet, Chrome
Diamond Back, Jammer II,
Raven, Chrome Ventura,
Hype, Titan, Wolverine,
Chrome Nitro, Chrome
Atlas, Phantom, Victor,
Chrome Baja, Kahuna, and
Chrome Python. |
